1Potato Improvement Project (Research Wing), Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar, (Distt. Puri) - 751 003.
Field trials with combinations of four fertilizer levels each of N (0, 60, 120 and 180 kg/ha) and potash (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha) were conducted at the Regional Research Station, Semiliguda, Koraput, Orissa during 1983–84 and 1984–85 to determine the response of potato to nitrogen and potash in a red clay loam (Inceptisol) soil of Eastern Ghat high land zones of Orissa. The results revealed that potato responded well to application of nitrogen up to 120 kg/ha. Application of potash had no beneficial effect on potato yield due to high potassium status of soil. Combination of nitrogen at 120 kg/ha alongwith 50 kg potash/ha proved beneficial for the growth of potato and produced maximum tuber yield.
