Abstract

Experiments were conducted in an alluvial soil to study the effect of Zn, Fe and their interaction with P on the yield of potato tubers. Zn was found to increase the yield up to the application of 20 Kg ZnSO4/ha while Fe application decreaeed the yield. The response of potato to P increased from 20 to 40 p/ha in presence of 20 Kg ZnSO/ha whereas in praence of Fe, the response wall only up to 20 Kg P/ha. The highest yield of tubers obtained was 186.0 and 169.9 q/ha during 1979–80 and 1980–81, respectively, with the application of 40 Kg P and 20 Kg ZnSO4/ha. In another experiments the significant increase in yield was obtained with the application of 20 Kg P/ha in the absence of Fe.
