Field experiments were conducted at the Regional Research Stations, Semiliguda and Bhubaneswar in 1980–81 and 1981–82 respectively to evaluate the relative efficiency of five nitrogeneous fertilizers (ammonium sulphate, calcium ammonium nitrate, urea, nitrophosphate and urea ammonium phsophate) when applied through broadcast or applied in lines. Ammonium sulphate gave high response over others and produted large portion of marketable tubers. Fertilizers placed in lines gave higher yield than broadcasting.
