Studies were made on the effect of various factors in relation to the translocation of Potato viroses X and Y sap inoculation in three potato varieties. Kufri Chandramukhi proved best followed by Kufri Jyoti and Kufri Sindhuri. Movement of both viruses was greater in summer than in the autumn crop. Well developed young leaves proved superior than immature young leaves while elder leaves were found to be inferior. New shoots of plants were found to be better than the Normal plant stems (75 days old plants). Strains PVX1 and PVY6 translocated faster than strains PVX2, PVX3 and PVY3, PVY4. A combined infection of PVX and PVY stimulated the translocation of PVX while a combination of PVX with PVS reduced it. In case of PVY9 combined infection either with PVX or with PVS had no effect.
