Effect of soil moisture level on root growth in four potato varieties

Root growth of four potato varieties under three soil moisture levels was studied in sand culture. Varieties differed significantly in root weight and root length. There was no significant difference in the primary adventitious root diameter until 60 days after emergence. There was a significant reduction in root weight and the total length of primary adventitious roots in 50% moisture replacement treatment.
