A four year survey in Punjab from 1980–83 revealed that Mild mosaic (MM) and severe mosaic (SM) had an average incidence of respectively 535 and 250% on seed crops as compared to 14.95 and 4.92% on ware crops. Leaf roll and MLO's were absent. Black scruf was the most ubiquitous disease on tubers with incidence from 35.9 to 59.7% on seed and from 15.0 to 60.4% on ware potatoes. Common scab has spread further to almost all the potato growing areas in Punjab with incidence above 10%. Soft rot and dry rot were less prevalent and appeared mostly in association with lateblight infected tubers. Late blight escaped regular detection every year on foliage but was found present on the cold stored tubers.
