Abstract

Aphid surveys conducted in Eastern Uttar Pradesh during the crop seasons 1982–83 to 1986–87 reveal that Aphis gossypii Glov. usually appears in the third week of November and reaches critical level in December end or first week of January, while the principal vector Myzus persicae (Sulzer) appears in the third week of December and reaches critical level by the end of the third week of January. These studies indicated that if haulms cutting is delayed farmers can get higher yields of quality seed potatoes.
