Field experiments conducted at Vegetable Research Farm, HAU, Hisar during 1984–85 and 1985–86 to study the influence of moisture regimes under different planting temperatures and nitrogen levels on soil temperature, fresh and dry weight of haulms and tubers of potato cv. Kufri Chandramukhi at different stages of growth indicated that maximum fresh and dry weight of haulms were produced when 35.7 cm irrigation water was applied at all the stages of observation whereas maximum fresh and dry weight of tubers was recorded when 24.7 cm irrigation water was apllied. Planting potato tubers under optimum temperature condition proved beneficial for producing higher weight of tubers at all the stages of harvesting. Higher dose of nitrogen application (150 kg/ha) have maximum weight of haulms as well as potato tubers. Application of 35.7 cm water by line source method of sprinkler irrigation lowered the soil temperature to maximum extent as compared to 22.8 cm water applied through ridge and furrow method of irrigation.
