Abstract

Experiment conducted at Chhindwara with different herbicides to control weed flora of potato crop during rabi season of 1986–87 and 1987–88 indicated that, one hand weeding + one earthing up recorded the highest yield of 261 q/ha followed by flunchloralin @ 0.9 kg/ha (260 q/ha) as pre-planting. Post emergence herbicides viz. propanil (0.9 kg/ha) produced 258 q/ha and paraquat (0.6 kg/ha) gave 249 q/ha tubers which were significantly superior over weedy check but these were at par with each other. Lowest weed population of 41 were recorded in one hand weeding + one earthing up and highest weeds of 133 were found in weedy check. The most economic treatment was flunchloralin giving highest return of Rs. 25,655/- per ha followed by propanil (Rs. 25,411/per ha).
