The effect of water stress at different stages of crop growth was evaluated. It was recorded that the water stress imposed at stolon initiation stage repress the yield by 30–65% and increases the percentage of small tubers by 9–25% whereas at other stages the effect was less pronounced. This reflects that stolon initiation stage is most critical in crop production under water stress.
