Abstract

Field experiment was conducted during autumn 1988–89 and 1989–90 at Central Potato Research Station, Jalandhar to study the crop-weed competition in potato (cv. K. Badshah). On an average, weeds reduced the tuber yield by 31%. Results showed that almost similar yields were recorded if plot was kept free from weeds upto 25 DAP or continued upto harvesting. Maximum reduction in tuber yield by 37 q/ha was recorded if weeding is delayed from 25 to 35 days of the crop indicating that this period is the most critical for crop-weed competition.
