Abstract

Experiments involving seed multiplication through sprouts and mother tubers were carried out during 1987–1991. Four varieties viz. Kufri Chandramukhi, Kufri Bahar, Kufri Badshah and Kufri Jyoti were used. The method involving use of sprouts obtained from tubers buried in sand plus the use of re-sprouted whole tubers cut into several pieces gave the highest rate of multiplication (48.63 to 68.37 times). Whereas, the treatment involving the use of sand rooted sprouted plus re-sprouted whole tubers resulted in multiplication rate of 41.5 to 62.9 times.
