1 Present address: Wart Testing Station, Darjeeling (W. B.)
A simple technique of ‘stem-cutting’ inoculation for studying resistance of potato varieties to wart has been evolved. For successful infection axillary buds on the stem should be removed to ensure infection a minimum of 6½ hrs contact with the inoculum is necessary. Uniform results can be obtained by inoculation at 12–18°C and incubation at 15–18°C.
