Abstract

Wild Pseudomonas solanacearum isolate producing unstable variants produced stable variants with very low frequency in vivo and in vitro. The stable variants were found to be altered in virulence and produced no willing symptoms in tomato, potato and brinjal but caused stunting and swelling at inoculation site or entire stem of tomato plants. Stable variants could not be induced to produce fluidal revertants in presence of antibiotic oxytetracycline as in case of unstable variants of the same isolates.
