Efficacy of boric acid and its mode of application was evaluated. In compatison to organo-mercutial compounds for the control of black scurf of potato. One set of infested tubers was treated with chemicals hefore storage (post-harvest) and to the other set, treatments were given before sowing i.e. pre planting. All the chemicals applied as dip and spray did not affect the germination as compared to untreated healthy control, however, post-harvest application gave better (77.73%) germination and higher yield as compared to pre-planting treatments. Dipping of potato tubers in botic acid (3%) for 15–30 min and its spray (4%) as post-harvest treatment were most effective in reducing the recovery of diseased tubers.
