Large variation with generally more duration of flowering, number of inflorescences/plant, number of flowers/inflorescence and pollen fertllty was observed in andigena than the tuberosum cultures studied. No relationship between number of inflorescence/plant and number of flowers/inflorescence was observed indicating that selection of parents for high values of both the characters was possible and the andigena genotypes would better serve as male parents in hybrid TPS production. High variability was also observed for beny formation, number of seeds per beny and seed weight. There did not appear to be any difference in beny setting in andigena and tuberosum when used as females. However. andigena cultures gave higher beny set when used as males.
