The major problems faced by the producers was non-availability of quality seed tubers at reasonable prices, lack of adequate capital, high cost of fertilizers and plant protection chemicals and high incidence of pests and diseases, In marketing aspects the major problems faced were fear of price fall, spoilages and immediate need for cash. Lack of improved storage facilities, high cost of transportation and high commission chaarges, violent prIce fluctuation and absence of price support programme.
