Abstract

In a study of the true potato seeds {TPS) and F1 seedling progenies of 105 crosses, the germination percentage, seedling survival, vigour, foliage and tuber uniformity, marketable and total tuber yields showed fairly high correlation coefficients indicating that simultaneous improvement in all these characters would be possible in development of TPS populations. Tuber weight and marketable yield were positively correlated with total yield. The positive association among TPS characterstics and between them and marketable yield and tuber uniformity indicated possibility of selecting for all these characters (with high values) in making TPS production and utilization an economic proposition.
