A field experiment was carried out for three consecutive years (1987–88 to 89–90) on a sandy loam acidic soil at Jorhat to find out the response of potato (cv. Kufri Jyoti) to nitrogen application (0, 60, 120, 180 and 240 kg N/ha). All the nitrogen levels resulted significantly higher total as well as large size tuber yield over no nitrogen and highest being at 240 kg N/ha. The optimum economic dose was computed to be 238 kg N/ha having expected yield of 172 q/ha.
