Thirty six genotypes of potato were grown in sixteen environments and were analysed for stability of tuber yield per plant. The high yielding genotypes viz MS-82-717, JO-932, MS-82-638, AB-445, IEB-A-26 and RG-1197 were ideally stable across the environments. Among the ideal stable genotypes MS-82-717. MS-82-638 and JO-932 gave higher tuber yield than the existing popular varieties viz. Kufri Badshah. Kufri Sindhuri and Kufri Chandramukhi of the region, hence these ideally stable genotypes may be adopted for commercial cultivation after thorough testing over environments. Seven genotypes (AB-667, Kufri Bahar, Kufri Sindhuri, Kufri Badshah, CRD-10-12, Kufri Jyoti and MS-82-279) were suitable for rich environmental conditions; whereas five genotypes were expected to peform well under poor management conditions (JEX/C-166, MS-82-797, Kufri Chandramukhi, JP-132 and PS/M-75).
