Effect of activated charcoal on germination of botanical seeds of Potato {Solanum Tuberosum L.J)*

Activated charcoal was found to have highly beneficial effect on germination of true potato seeds by enhancing the rate of gemlination and final germination count. The effect of activated charcoal with and without GA₃ treatment, on germination of botanical seeds from five different crosses, was tested in petriplaies. The rate of germination measured in term of coefficient of velocity was better in activated charcoal containing treatments. Activated charcoal containing treatments had a clearcut beneficial effect on final germination.
