Soil and foliar application of potassium to potato was evaluated during 1993–94 and 1994–95 on the alluvial soils of Jalandhar (Punjab) for yield and fertilizer use efficiency. Soil application of K @ 99 kg/ha significantly increased tuber yield by 92 q/ha. The foliar spray of 2% KCl solution at 50 days after planting increased yield by 43 q/ha. However, the effect of foliar applied K decreased with the increase in rate of K applied to soil at planting. Recovery of applied K and utilization efficiency of foliar applied K was higher than that of soil applied K.
