An attempt has been made to know the effects of soil temperatures at 10 cm, soil depth on percentage plant emergence of two potato cultivars viz., Kufri Badshah and Kufri Lauvker under different environmental conditions at Anand (Gujrat). Results of three consecutive years (1994–95 to 1996–97) indicated that 1st week of Decem ber was optim urn for better emergence of both the cultivars. Significantly higher emergence was noticed in Kufri Lauvker than Kufri Badshah under all the environmental conditions. In general, 20.5 to 23.0°C. soil temperature at 10 cm, soil depth was found optimum for emergence of potato.
