Abstract

An attempt was made to compare the nitrocellulose membrane (NCM) polyvalent DOT-ELISA with specific DOT/DAS-ELISA for detection of potato viruses X, S and Y in varieties Kufri Jyoti, Kufri Sindhuri, Kufri Lalima, Kufri Chandramukhi, Kufri Badshah, Kufri Lauvkar and Kufri Muthu. Polyvalent DOT-ELISA was found more efficient and sensitive than the specific DOT and DAS alkaline phosphatase ELISA. Detection through these three methods tallied in all varieties tested and specific and poly DOT-ELISA proved superior than DAS-ELISA. Polyvalent DOT-ELISA is equally sensitive yet economical & efficient method for simultaneous detection of three viruses.
