Bio-efficacy of Antracol at varying concentrations against potato late blight under epiphytotic conditions was tested. Fungicide residue was estimated both in tubers (unwashed) and soil. Antracol was effective against the disease at all the concentrations (0.2, 0.25 and 0.4%), which proved to be superior or at par with Dithane M-45 (0.2%). Likewise, all the concentrations of Antracol increased the yield significantly over unsprayed control. Amongst three doses, 0.4% was superior over 0.25 and 0.2% Antracol, but differences were non-significant. Unwashed tubers carried slight fungicide residues (0.047–0.110 μg propineb/g tuber) which were comparable to that of Dithane M-45 (0.035–0.039 μg maneb/g tuber). Residues in soil were slightly higher (0.049–0.129 μg propineb/g soil). However, all the fungicide residues observed were below the acceptable limits.
