Response of potato cultivars to low inputs in alluvial soils of Patna*

Field experiment was conducted during 1990–91 and 1991–92 at Patna to study the interaction between seed rates and fertility levels in TPS crop (C-3) and Kufri Chandramukhi, Kufri Lalima and Kufri Sindhuri varieties of potato. For this, seed size of 8–12 g was used. The results showed the increase in tuber yields with increase in seed rate from 10–20q/ha and with low to high fertility and TPS crop out yielded other cultivars. However, the rate of multiplication was in favour of low seed rate (10 q/ha) and high fertility (180-80-120 kg N, P₂O₅ and K₂O/ha, respectively). The net returns per rupee spent on seed and fertilizers was in favour of low seed rate and high fertility.
