Comparative evaluation of on-farm storage losses of two potato cultivars in Bihar

Potatoes of cultivars Kufri Ashoka and Kufri Sindhuri were stored in thatched and pucca structures at Central Potato Research Station, Patna during the summer of 1996–97 and storage losses were assessed at fornightly intervals. Losses due to rotting were relatively higher in pucca store than in thatched store. Under these storage conditions, Kufri Ashoka was found to be a poor keeper. Smaller tubers showed higher weight loss than large tubers, average being 31.0 per cent pucca store.
