Abstract

Thirty two populations from line X tester (8 × 4) design were studied for combining ability for yield and uniformity of tuber characters, viz. shape, size and colour in seedling and seedling-tuber crops. Both additive and non-additive components were equally important for uniformity of tuber colour, while non-additive component was predominant in expression of other traits. Andigena parents JEX/A 15, JEX/A 30 and JEX/A 805 were found superior parents based on their general combining abilities for various traits. Cross populations JEX/A 30 X MS/78-62, JEX/A 805 × Kufri Pukhraj and JEX/A 805 × MS/89-1095 were found promising in both seedling and seedling-tuber crops.
