Inter-relationships between genetic parameters indicated that genetic divergence of parents can be used to predict the heterosis for tuber yield in potato. For realization of heterosis for tuber yield, specific combining ability was found to be important. Mid-parent values were good predictor of progeny performance, and parents' (per se) performance was found to be an indicator of GCA values of parents.
