Abstract

Intercropping of potato with autumn planted sugarcane improved the cane yield by 6.12% while, other vegetables as intercrop affected the cane yield adversely. The decrease was minimum (9.14%) under sugarcane + cauliflower and maximum (19.64%) under cane + radish as compared to sole crop of cane. Cane + potato intercropping system was found to be the most beneficial, producing highest net returns of Rs. 72,808/ha against Rs. 48,220/ha under cane alone.
