Production potential of potato based crop sequences under irrigated conditions in western Indo-gangetic plains

Abstract

Five potato based crop sequences were evaluated at CPRI Campus, Modipuram, Meerut, (UP) during 1997–98 and 1998–99. The study revealed that the maize-potato-sunflower crop sequence gave highest potato equivalent yield of 486.5 q/ha and was found most profitable with net return of Rs 65,227/ha closely followed by rice-potato-sunflower and blackgram-potato-boltlegourd crop sequence which gave 477.1 and 461.4 q/ha potato equivalent yield and net return of Rs. 62,692/ha and Rs. 61,383/ha, respectively.
