An Integrated Potato Cyst Nematode (PCN) management practice was standardized to increase the crop productivity at Nilgiri hills utilising host resistance, crop rotations and nematicide over a period of seven years study, PCN resistant potato cultivar Kufri Swarna brought down the cyst populations by 82% and the propogules by 99.5%, over a period of seven years while the standard nematicidal treatment brought down cysts by 47% and propogules by 72 %. A cropping sequence of cabbage or carrot after potato increased the crop yields and brought down the nematode populations to manageable levels. This management practice is now in practice with the local farmers who are able to get sustainable yields even with susceptible potato Kufri Jyoti which has more marketable value.
