Abstract

Serious attack of white grubs, Lachnosterna coriacea Hope was observed in and around Fagu village during 1997 and onwards. Observations recorded on the effect of soil type, elevation and the weather factors revealed that lower elevation i.e., 2400–2800 ft above sea level, sandy loam stony soil with loose texture and well distributed heavy rains (above 900 mm) during crop period favoured pest activity with higher tuber damage.
