Effect of nitrogen fertilizer applied to potato plants on duration of tuber dormancy and sprout growth

The effect of higher doses of nitrogen applied as top dressing on the dormancy duration of tuber and sprout growth was studied in cvs Kufri Chandramukhi and Kufri Jyoti. Top dressing of 120–240 kg N/ha in addition to a basal dose of 120 kg N/ha had no significant effect on dormancy duration and sprout growth. While the number of sprouts per tuber were more in Kufri Jyoti, sprout thickness and weight were significantly higher in Kufri Chandramukhi.
