Pre-harvest mulching for curing of tubers of three potato varieties significantly improved their chip colour. Mulched tubers contained about 46 per cent less of reducing sugars as compared to normal crop tubers and produced highly acceptable chips. Tubers harvested just after dehaulming can be processed directly into acceptable chips. Temperature prevailing while the curing period was found to be an important factor for producing potatoes suitable for processing.
