Eight potato cultivars and two TPS populations were evaluated for tuber yield when harvested at 75 days and at 90 days after planting at 2 locations, viz. Deesa and Ladol in Gujarat state. In the field trials conducted dttring three years from 1998–99 to 2000–01, cv. Kufri Pukhraj produced the highest tuber yield followed by cv. Kufri Badshah and cv. Kufri Jawahar at both the locations and under both the maturity groups. Storage of these varieties for 4 months at ambient temperature in 2001 at Deesa revealed minimum sprouting, less physiological and total weight loss in cv. Kufri Chandramukhi followed by Kufri Jawahar and Kufri Badshah. Cultivation of high yielding varieties like Kufri Pukhraj in early cropping and Kufri Badshah in main crop is likely to enhance to present productivity of potato in Gujaral from 23 t/ha to 28–30 t/ha and bringing about higher remuneration to the farmers.
