The polyembryonic parasite C. uruguayensis oviposits in the eggs of its host. The parasite egg undergoes maturation and polar bodies are retained to form a trophomnion. The nucleus divides mitotically and develops into a polygerm (morulae). The polygerm matures and dissociates into free living larvae as the host larva matures and prepares to pupate. The egg, early cleavage and larval development are described. The paraite larvae matures forming individual cells and pupate within the integument of the host. The total developmental time from egg to adult was 25 5 days.
