Abstract

Random samples of 123 potato genotypes were evaluated in a heated glasshouse during summer 2002 at Shimla. Genetic parameters and association of different traits, viz. plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, dry tuber weight, shoot/root ratio with tuberization efficiency were estimated. Considerable variation was observed among the genotypes for all the traits. High estimates of coefficients of variability, heritability and genetic advance for tuberization efficiency indicated that this trait could be improved through selection. Number of tubers and tuber dry weight had significantly positive association with tuberlzation efficiency, whereas shoot/root ratio and plant height were negatively associated with it.
