Abstract

Field trials involving four commercial cultivars and a heat tolerant hybrid, having desirable tuber shape for preparation of French fries at Deesa (Banaskantha) and Ladol (Mehsana) in North Gujarat, established that high quality French fries can be prepared from cvs Kufri Chipsona-1, Kufri Badshah, Kufri Sutlej and hybrid HT/92-621 from the crop grown in North Gujarat. Cv. Kufri Anand did not yield good French fries despite haVing excellent tuber shape and size.
