Performance of hill- and plain-produced minitubers (produce of microtubers/ microplants) of three varieties, viz., Kufri Chandramukhi, Kufri Ashoka and Kufri Pukhraj grown under North-Western plain conditions was compared in terms of emergence, yield and rate of multiplication. In all the three varieties the performance of minitubers produced in the plain was distinctively superior to those produced in the hill. In plain-produced minitubers average emergence was 94.4 per cent, yield 283.2 q/ha and the rate of multiplication 9.16 times, whereas corresponding figures for hill-produced tubers were 76.21, 162.68 and 5.71, respectively.
