For more efficient planting and for placing potato tubers at uniform row to row and seed to seed distance, a manually drawn two row cup type of potato planter has been designed and developed. It consists mainly of two numbers of four ply rating, 100 mm wide rubberized belts with sixteen numbers of 45 mm diameter mild steel (MS) sheet cups riveted on each belt. Power to both the metering mechanism and eccentric plate has been given from the ground wheel through an arrangement of chains and sprockets. The effective field capacity of the planter was 0.5 ha / Day with 0.5 percent missings.
