Abstract

Green house studies on an acidic soil of Fagu (Shimla) revealed significantly higher bio-mass, uptake of P and K by potato compared to control with the application of 100% PK along with residues of wheat or paddy. Application of PK in presence of crop residues resulted in higher assimilation of P and K in potato leaves at stolon formation stage. In laboratory study where the soil was subjected to slow equilibrium at 25°C using radiotracer 86Rb, the organic residues of wheat, paddy or farmyard manure did not govern the potassium adsorption in this soil but it was time factor, which determined the adsorption rate of K/ 86Rb.
