Studies carried out at CPRS Jalandhar, during 2001–02 and 2002–03 on the rate of degeneration due to viral diseases revealed that the average viral incidence combined incidence of mild mosaic, severe mosaic and leaf roll during third (2001–02) and fourth (2002–03) years of study was higher in ware crop as compared to fresh breeders' seed crop of cvs. Kufri Jawahar and Kufri Ashoka. Ware crop with no aphid control measures resulted in 10.43% and 9.83% reduction in yields in cvs. Kufri Jawahar and Kufri sutlej respectively as compared to fresh breeders' seed crop of same cultivars.
