Abstract

Potato leaf hopper (Empoasca fabae Harris) is a serious pest of potato as even relatively low numbers of leaf hopper can cause a significant yield reduction. In early crop of potato, 2 sprays of monocrotophos 36EC (0.01%) at fortnight interval were found most effective against potato leaf hopper, while in main crop of potato lmidacloprid (Confidor, 200SL, 0.02%) was found effective. Population of leaf hopper in main crop continued to build up from November till 3rd week of December and afterwards started declining with continuous decrease in atmospheric temperature.
