Abstract

PTM is a serious pest of potato stores in mid-hills of Himachal Pradesh. In the present study, the effect of a commonly used sprout suppressant, CIPC was evaluated on the PTM infested tubers during 60 days of storage at ambient temperature. The treatment was found to reduce the infestation to very low levels, whereas, the untreated tubers were highly infested. This preliminary study suggests the possibility of using CIPC in country stores for prolonging the storage life of potatoes and also for lowering the PTM infestation.
