Price fluctuation is an important problem for potato growers in the world as well as in India and seasonal fluctuations are its important constituent. Seasonal indices of prices and arrivals for important potato markets in India were calculated. It was found that prices remain higher than average during last three months of the calendar year and lower than average during the first three months. The arrival patterns are specific to the markets and not the months. The co-existence of high arrivals and high prices as well as low arrivals and low prices during some months in some markets indicate imperfections in the Indian agricultural marketing system.
