Database of hybrids introduced in all India coordinated potato improvement project

Today the information technology has become the most useful tool for documentation of information on different aspects. The information collated to develop the database is accessible to the users in a user friendly way as and when needed. Efforts have been made to develop the database of the new cultures/advance hybrids introduced in the All India Coordinated Potato Improvement Project (AICPIP). The information on salient features such as culture number/code, year of cross, parentage, name of breeders, year of introduction in the coordinated trial, area of adaptation, tuber yield/characters, crop maturity, keeping quality of tubers, etc. for the advanced hybrids in the on-going trials as well as new hybrids introduced recently for multilocation testing under the All India Coordinated Potato Improvement Project are input in the database through fields created for the same. The salient features of database and the procedure for locating information is described in this paper.
