Twenty-two advanced potato hybrids along with two clones of a parental line were characterized using RAPD markers to have fingerprint database and to assess diversity within the potato lines. Fifteen random decamer primers generated 131 fragments with 87% fragment polymorphism. Agglomerative clustering on the dendrogram reflected limited kinship. Pair wise similarity values revealed moderate genetic variability among the 22 advanced lines due to common parentage. The need for imparting more genetic divergence through selection of diverse parent combinations has been stressed upon.
