A field experiment was conducted on sandy loam soils at Central Potato Research Institute Campus, Modipuram research farm in west-central plains to optimize best crop geometry for obtaining maximum chipping size grade yield in two recently released potato cultivars Kufri Chipsona-1 and Kufri Chipsona-2. Planting geometry did not affect the plant growth parameters (plant height, compound leaf number/plant & stem number/m) and processing quality parameters like specific gravity, dry matter content, chip colour and reducing sugars. In cv. Kufri Chipsona-1 the maximum processing grade tuber number and yield (242.42 thousand/ha and 235 q/ha) were recorded at 66 × 20 cm, spacing, while these yield attributes remained unaffected due to variable crop geometry combinations in cv. Kufri Chipsona-2. In view of problem of greening of tubers in ridges, abrupt changes in soil moisture and temperature during tuber development and at maturity due to weather variations, it may be concluded that the spacing of 66 × 20 cm could be recommended for growing Chipsona cultivars for chipping purpose in this region.
