Abstract

Two cropping sequences, viz. Potato-potato and potato-pea were evaluated with the addition of farmyard manure and chemical fertilizers during 1999 and 2000 on a sandy loam, neutral soil under sprinkler irrigation at Kukumseri in Lahaul valley for yield, net gains and soil fertility build up. Potato-potato sequence resulted in higher yield and higher return than potato-pea sequence but potato-pea sequence proved superior in terms of soil fertility build up.
